Palmer Vs Woodstock

So there was supposed to be this huge fight in Vegas, I think it was like 97 or something. Shaun Palmer and Simon Woodstock both had this "clown" thing going on and I think it went like this. They both showed up at a skate park with clown gear on and someone said "one clown must go down" or some shit like that. Anyway people got the idea that they should box for publicity in Vegas at the snowboard trade show. The fight got more hype than anyone could have imagined and I had dealers changing flight plans just to be there for the fight. Then we're in Vegas and Jurg Kunz - the owner of Palmer, yes someone else actually owned Palmer what a shock - Jurg shows up and is like Palmers hand is all busted up from punching some mexican dude who was messing with his box van in his front yard. Now he can't fight. So now Vans is pissed because they have a shit ton of money into it, Shaun is pretty much over all the hype and BS of this so ling story short they get Mike Muir from Suicidal Tendencies to step in for Shaun. Mike gets his ass handed to him because Simon has been training with a welter weight champ of something for like 3 months but it was fun none the less. We had VIPS and it was a good party.

Retro Snowboard

So I am going to try and get a bunch of stuff on my blog here about some old school snowboard shit. Here is a good first run. I scanned in the catalogs from the first company I used to rep for Famly Snowboards - yes I know it is spelled wrong, that was cool back then - Geoff Falzone was the owner and a first class dude. Still lives in So Cal and owns an off road truck fab and race team called Giant Motorsports, look him up for all your needs.
First Year Catalog was pretty simple

Outside Cover and here is what was inside. I still have the 136 Model and would kill for a 147 Citrus board. I know who has one but he won't give it up.





The next year it got way bigger - for us at least. Multi page, multi color but originators in the ultra clean department. These boards never made it to full production unfortunately and Geoff folded up the operation. Before he did I left for Palmer Snowboards that year - first year for Palmer - and worked with Bob Klein who is the man today.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Police Officer

Having several family memebers and friends who are law enforcement officers I have a great amount of respect for the job that they have to do, especially for my cousin who works in a rough part of Michigan. They take a lot of danger head on with the job and have to put their life on the line to protect us. But this dude driving his mini car is nothing more than a pissed off fat man looking to show people who is boss. There is no excuse to act like this in front of a 14 year old kid who is going to grow up and hate cops who are supposed to be there to protect you.

My good bro Phil sent me a pic of this classic shirt that I did about 20 years ago. I think it was one of the first "companies" that I ever did. It was created in the car after a blown out knee and a car ride with Chris Vest, the first time we ever me and it was called Blah Board Wear. Blah was an acronym for Bull Lickin A*% H*&#s. Which is the name I came up with for a few people that we were sandboarding with that weekend.

Yes the rumors are true.....

So yes, it is true. I had a small part of Hollywood history when I worked with Steven Spielberg. During our time together I gave him quite a few ideas, including several high dollar type movies like Independance day and stuff like that. He was thankful and unfortunately I never got paid but I was only 17 and did not have a written contract at the time. Oh well, maybe some day he'll ask me to do a movie again.

Novi Snowmobile Show

It was a pretty cool show this weekend. Hung out with some friends old and new, Chris Burandt came into town to sign some autographs for Slednecks and he is a super nice guy. I got him together with NASCAR driver and Sledneck Team Member Brian Keselowski and they talked cars for a few hours. Chris tried to convince Brian to let him drive his car but Brian was having none of it HA! Chris pretty much flew in Friday night and was out Saturday night, pretty crazy schedule for him but he's off to Idaho I guess for more work. When he found out that we wee going to go to Kart 2 Kart for some indoor cart action on Saturday night you coud tell he was disappointed but duty call right Chris!!!
